5. Meliá Caribe Tropical All Inclusive Beach & Golf Resort
If you’re heading to Punta Cana with kids in tow, consider making the Meliá Caribe Tropical your home base. Overlooking Bávaro Beach from the southern end of the resort strip, this all-inclusive property caters to clans with special family suites, which include kid-friendly extras like bunk beds, baby bath amenities and step stools for sinks. Outside the rooms, younger guests will discover facilities like a climbing wall and a kids club. Meanwhile, adults can aim for par at the Cocotal Golf and Country Club (guests receive unlimited green fees) or sign up for a couples massage at the YHI Spa. Just save some time to test Lady Luck at the on-site casino and soak up some sun at the resort’s nine pools. Past guests appreciated the variety of things to do here and the friendly staff; however, some warned that ongoing renovations mean select amenities are occasionally unavailable. Others said the cuisine served at the property’s 14 restaurants is underwhelming at best.

6. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort
Situated between the lush El Yunque National Rainforest and the Atlantic Ocean on Puerto Rico’s northeastern coast, this seaside Wyndham resort lures active travelers with its versatile outdoor pursuits. You can play a round of tennis at the Peter Burwash International Courts before teeing off at two championship golf courses. Afterwards, take a dip in one of the property’s three swimming pools or treat yourself to a soothing massage at the Mandara Spa. Then unwind in your spacious guest room, where you’ll find ornate Italian tiles, natural wooden furnishings and a private balcony. All accommodations also come equipped with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi access, Institut Karité Paris toiletries and coffee makers with Puerto Rican coffee. Recent guests loved the well-appointed rooms, as well as the food and service at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar’s five restaurants. However, a few past diners said the eateries’ dishes are a bit pricey. To save some coin, Wyndham Rewards participants can pay for rooms with accrued points.
