3. Hotel Le Germain Montreal
Le Germain Hotel Montreal sets itself apart from other Montreal hotels with its flashy contemporary design. Found on the southeastern edge of the McGill University campus, Le Germain’s loft-style guest rooms are outfitted with sleek furnishings and come stocked with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs with Chromecast connectivity, electric safes and Nespresso coffeemakers and rainfall showers. But what guests praise most – aside from the hotel’s attentive staff – is how much bang they got for their buck. The nightly room rate here covers the cost of internet usage and continental breakfast. Plus, after you explore the city, you grab dinner at Le Boulevardier or grab a delectable cocktail at Bar Flaneur.

4. Auberge Vancouver Hotel
Rising above Vancouver’s metropolis, the Auberge impresses guests with its views overlooking the surrounding mountains and waterfront. But a brag-worthy backdrop isn’t the only thing this Vancouver retreat has going for it: Its prime perch puts guests within walking distance of popular restaurants, high-end boutiques and city attractions, including the Vancouver Lookout, Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium. Still, you might be hard-pressed to find a reason to leave the property grounds with perks like direct entry to The Terminal City Club Fitness Centre, which contains an 82-foot-long indoor pool with Lion’s Gate Bridge and harbor views. And the rooms aren’t too shabby either, outfitted with amenities like iPod docking stations, minifridges, flat-screen TVs and coffee makers. There is one drawback, however: There are no restaurants on-site.
