Just 2 miles south of the Mont Tremblant Ski Resort, Château Beauvallon offers cozy accommodations in a rural setting. The suites range from one to four bedrooms and each includes a living room area, a kitchenette, a gas fireplace and a balcony. Though some visitors do say the rooms appear slightly dated, they praise the property’s free perks, including free Wi-Fi access and complimentary shuttle service to and from the ski resort. The property also offers an abundance of year-round activities, including ATV tours, horseback riding, rock climbing, dog sledding and snowmobiling. Take a dip in the indoor or outdoor pool and hot tub, or use the fitness center when you’re not busy soaking up the great outdoors. While here, take advantage of the daily complimentary continental breakfast. Do know that there is no on-site restaurant. There is Scotch Bar that serves a small menu of options in addition to drinks. While many visitors report a pleasant stay overall, some do say the customer service left something to be desired.

8. Grand Times Hotel Sherbrooke
Located in Sherbrooke, Quebec (about 120 miles southwest of Québec City), the Grand Times Hotel caters to urbanites with its chic decor and modern amenities. Accommodations here are outfitted with LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi and windows with views of either downtown or the lake. When it comes to dining, guests can take advantage of a complimentary breakfast (though some guests do describe the spread as lackluster) or savor a cocktail at Cozy Lounge, but they’ll have to look elsewhere for lunch and dinner. A dip in the indoor pool offer much-needed respite after a day of enjoying walking tours or perusing through nearby boutiques and museums. If you’re feeling social, you can mingle with other guests in the fire-lit lobby or on the spacious outdoor patio. Recent guests particularly recommended strolling outside at dusk to admire the hotel’s views of Lac des Nations and Mount Orford.
