1. Moscow
The capital of Russia, Moscow is a city of more than 12 million people and is the most important city in Russia. It is important not just for political reasons alone; it is also well known for its cultural endeavors, world-famous ballet, symphonies, art, and architecture. The historic churches with onion-shaped domes dominating the skyline; the Kremlin and impressive Red Square, are sights not to be missed. 2. St Petersburg
Built by Peter the Great, the city has had several names over the years. Until the revolution of 1917, St. Petersburg was the capital of the Russian Empire and is still considered by many to be the cultural capital of Russia. Because of the city’s many canals and beautiful bridges, St Petersburg is sometimes called Venice of the North.
