7. Half Baked
Cast: Dave Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams, Guillermo, Díaz Clarence Williams III
Before the Illuminati got hold of Dave Chappelle, he was undeniable comic genius (and he may actually be more funny now, but that’s a discussion for another day …). This is the ultimate stoner movie for Gen X’rs and Millennials alike. It’s plot, revolving around four lifelong friends in New York City whose relationship revolves almost exclusively around cannabis.

8. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Cast: Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Christopher Lee, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis, Sean Bean
In many ways Peter Jackson did the impossible in not only completing a critically and commercially lauded adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Even if you hate, fantasy you must concede to the achievement of filmmaking Jackson and his team accomplished here. Game of Thrones is one thing, but whether people will care about it 50 years from now is another. Middle Earth is hallowed ground, well-trod and here to stay with the likes of Amazon paying hundreds of millions of dollars for the rights alone from Tolkien’s cranky progeny.
